Jack Cunningham
Jack Cunningham is a contemporary studio jeweller whose work is positioned within the narrative genre.
Having concentrated on the brooch form for many years, the focus of Cunningham’s output centres on the personal, within the context of the global. The people we meet, the places we populate and the relationships we nurture are themes explored through visual imagery. Pieces are fabricated utilising various techniques and incorporate semi-precious stones, readymades and found objects.
A further strand to Cunningham’s research explores how objects communicate their narrative to the viewer and, for the wearable object, the reinterpretation of the maker’s narrative through the intervention of the wearer.
