For the third year running the School of Jewellery hosted the prestigious UK Skills competition.

Ten competitors, several of which were apprentices from the London Jewellery industry, were selected from around the country to take part in a two day competition at the end of June.

They were required to make a piece of fine jewellery to the dimensions of a technical drawing within 14 hours under strict examination conditions.

Experts from the Birmingham industry, Peter Slusarzcuk and Paul Alabaster, were invited to judge the pieces to determine the winner and potential member of the UK squad to go forward for the World Skills competition taking place in London in 2011.

Jenna Tsang, having successfully completed her HND in Jewellery & Silversmithing at the School this June, took part in the competition and achieved a commendable third place and a bronze medal.

Well done Jenna for giving the London apprentices a run for their money!
