The School of Jewellery scoops major prizes at the prestigious Craftsmanship and Design Awards 2010.

Award winning students and staff were invited to attend the magnificent awards ceremony on the evening of Monday 1st March. “These awards are part of the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council's programme to promote excellence amongst all engaged in the Trade” 

Our award winners include the following;

Recent graduate and Artist in Residence Kevin Grey won the major award of the evening, The Goldsmiths’ Company Award “This is awarded at the discretion of the Council to the piece of finished work that is judged to have achieved the highest standards of both craftsmanship and design” Kevin also won a number of other Gold and Silver awards during the evening.

Recent graduate Jack Row won numerous awards including The Goldsmiths Company Assay Office London Special Award For Technological innovation – 3D “this special award celebrates the use, importance and contribution that technology is playing in the profession, the winning recipient will have demonstrated innovative use of technology “ He also won Gold and Silver awards within this category.

Lecturer Zoe Robertson won a Silver award for Gallery Jewellery “innovative designs for fashion jewellery as one-off non hallmarkable items” and current student Farrah Al-Dujaili also received a commendation.

Current student Christopher Hay and recent graduate Emma Mogridge won silver awards for the IJL Special Award For Fine Jewellery.

Current student James Madgwick won silver for 2D CAD Presentation and Siobhan Maher won gold for the 2D Smallworkers “to design a sumptuous evening bag on the theme of evening extravaganza” She also won a commended for Fine Jewellery.

Recent graduate Annie Cracknell won the Gem – A Diamond Scholarship Awards which enables her to take part in a Diamond Practical Certificate Course held in Hatton Garden, London. She also received a commended in Stone Carving.

Other prize winners included graduate Louise Parry and recent staff member Rachel Gogerly.

The award winning entries are on show at the Craftsmanship & Design Awards Exhibition 2010 held at Goldsmiths Hall, London.  Tuesday 2 to Friday March 5, 2010 from 10.00am to 5.00pm (late night opening until 8.00pm on  March 3rd)  Admission is free.
