Horology students win prestigious bursaries

Three students from the 2009 Intake for the British Horological Institute Horology Course at the School Of Jewellery have been awarded bursaries to help them with their studies over the three year course.
 

The Worshipful Company Of Clockmakers, in conjunction with The Ogden Trust, has awarded The Harrison Bursaries to two students at BCU, Bethan Cartwright and Mark Rung will each receive £1500.00 per annum for three years, dependent on progress throughout the course The bursaries were established to promote training for clock and watchmakers and regular meetings with the Head Of Horology at the School Of Jewellery, Jeremy Hobbins, and representatives from the Worshipful Company are used to monitor the recipient’s progress. The Ogden Trust sponsors students at many schools and universities

Another Horology Student, Jonathon Kelly , has been awarded a bursary of £1500 per annum from The Antiquarian Horological Society. A charity, formed in 1953, to practise and foster the study of Antiquarian Horology, by arranging lectures in London and at sections throughout the country; exhibitions and study tours and by publishing horological books and a prestigious quarterly journal. The Society also has an extensive library in the Guildhall, London.
