Flying introductions from preposterous to a pig!
14-Oct-2009
Induction week introduced our new students to one another, whist exploring their creativity in all manner of ways…
Students from throughout the School’s courses joined together in teams to take part in the school challenge, to design and make a FLYING MACHINE from a limited range of materials. These soared from the heights of the atrium, with every descent style imaginable and were rewarded with prizes for ‘slowest and stylish’ and ‘accurate landing location’.
Different groupings and more new friends explored the school on a POETIC CRYPTIC TREASURE HUNT for resources, from which they developed a wonderful spontaneous collection of brooches. These utilised materials donated by the Ethical Recycling Organisation. www.ethicalrecycle.org The Brooches were judged by Jack Cunningham, our Head of School, who selected four runners-up. The final decisions were made by the audience of Fresher’s, fed on cake and gathered together as a CLAP-O-METER, to decide on the order of prizes.
As a final bonding, HND2 Students decided amongst themselves to SPEED-MATE their first year peers in a frantic three-minute bonding session. They tested the new students on how much they had learned about the second years and supplied them with chocolate prizes. The noise was incredible!
