Tusheeta David's Grand Ideas is taking her places.
07-Sep-2009
Talented jewellery designer Tusheeta David has just won the Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award. She has been awarded a sum of £1000 towards her new business, which will be used to help towards creating more elaborate displays to showcase her work at a number of venues around the country.
She has been selected to exhibit her range of innovative contemporary acrylic jewellery at Origin- UK’s best contemporary crafts fair in London between 6th and the 11th of October this year.
Born and raised in India, Tusheeta recently won the Treasure Designer of the Year award in London for her excellence in visionary design and use of emerging technology. She will be exhibiting her range of breath-taking coloured acrylic jewellery, which she creates in her workshop in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham. Tusheeta David is inspired by the mystery that microscopic images exude. Highly intricate patterns from nature are used as references to create Tusheeta’s range of contemporary acrylic jewellery. She sources acrylic off-cuts to create her range of ethically-aware jewellery. Brightly coloured acrylic jewellery, which is often hand-dyed to create stunning effects, characterises her style. She uses modern laser technology to engrave intricate patterns onto her stunning designs.
Origin is organised by the Crafts Council and is Britain's premier event for any one interested in contemporary crafts. It is held at Somerset House, a thriving cultural destination in London, in a specially designed pavilion over two weeks in October 2009. This event is definitely worth a visit as it features some of the best designer-makers from UK and abroad, including new and established makers. Tusheeta will also be showing her work at Lustre in Nottingham, Handmade in Britain in Chelsea and Made in Brighton this year in the run up to Christmas.
