Our annual prizegiving ceremony took place in our marvellous school atrium on Wednesday 24th June 2009. Students and staff were joined by their family, friends and members of the industry to celebrate our student successes and achievement at this prestigious event.

The evening was organised by the British Jewellers Association and related to the judging event held at the school a few days earlier. These awards cover all courses and subjects, some of which are school related and others are donated by industry, who continues to offer their support to our students which has existed since 1890.

The event began with a ceremonial procession which included the evening’s guest speakers and members of the University as follows

  • Michael Hoare, Chief Executive of the National Association of Goldsmiths
  • Geoff Field, Chief Executive of the British Jewellers Association
  • Professor Jack Cunningham, Head of the School of Jewellery
  • Professor David Macquire, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Birmingham City University
  • Professor Maxine Penlington, Secretary & Registrar of Birmingham City University Professor
  • Chris O’Neil, Executive Dean of Birmingham Institute of Art and Design
  • Terry Hunt, Deputy Head of the School of Jewellery

During the evening the awards were presented by Terry Hunt and Michael Hoare, and we heard inspirational and thought provoking presentations by Geoff Field, Michael Hoare, and Professor Jack Cunningham, who gave an annual report and overview of the schools successes throughout the year.

Finally, the school would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody involved in making this event a wonderful evening. For further information about this event or to sponsor an award please contact info@schoolofjewellery.co.uk
