Launch of new publication

Kenneth Quickenden our Heritage Jewellery Professor has recently launched a new publication to coincide with the Bicentenary celebrations and major exhibition focussing on Matthew Boulton’s life and times at Birmingham Museums & Art Gallery Entitled: Matthew Boulton – selling what all the world desires
The publication is called “Boulton Silver and Sheffield Plate” which includes seven essay published in The Silver Society journal from 1994. The essays cover aspects of Matthew Boulton and Matthew Robinson Boulton involvement with the production of Silver and Sheffield Plate from 1760’s into the early 19th century.
The essays cover a range of topics including detailed information about the firm’s silversmiths, statistics about production, material about patronage, management and also stylistic trends

Professor Kenneth Quickenden will also be contributing to a major international conference “Where Genius and the Arts Preside” which marks the bicentenary of the death of West Midlands entrepreneur Matthew Boulton (1728-1809).
