Culture Matters

On a recent visit to the Academy of International Visual Arts in Shanghai, our Head of School Professor Jack Cunningham and Dr Joshua Jiang were invited to participate in an interview for the Culture Channel of Shanghai Television.
The Culture Matters programme hosted by Sammy Yang will be broadcast later this month and will show the conversation which centred around Jack’s interest in narrative jewellery and cultural paradigms.
The interview was a result of a joint exhibition curated by Joshua Jiang called “To Strangers” which features the work of both Professor Teng Fei of Central Academy of Fine Art (Beijing), and Jack Cunningham. This exhibition will be held at the Star Space Gallery in Shanghai between 8 March – 24 April 2009.

Dr Joshua Jiang runs the Centre for Chinese Visual Arts at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and is a writer and curator. Also, he jointly set up the Academy of International Visual Arts with its Director, Laura Leng.
