Past and present students were proud to receive awards at the prestigious presentation ceremony in the grand surroundings of Goldsmiths’ Hall in London. The School of Jewellery found itself in the top 6 Universities in the running for the College Prize after a successful series of student entries were selected for various prizes.

Dickon Wood collected the Gold Award for Smallworkers in recognition of his exquisite gold and silver cup and saucer, and was also commended for his 2D design work in the Silversmiths category.

Fellow HND students also had reason to celebrate. Bobby Jennings received a commendation for his “Humorous jug” in the Junior Silversmiths section, whilst Siobhan Maher collected the Silver Award for her 2D design work for Fine Jewellery.

Rachel Briggs from the new Design for Industry course was commended in the Prototype Production Jewellery section for her suite of silver jewellery generated by CADCAM.

Current MA student Simon Pattison was jointly awarded the Gil Packard Post Graduate Bursary and a commendation in the 2D Silversmiths category.

It was encouraging to see graduates from the School of Jewellery continuing to achieve success in the competition. Nan Nan Liu received a Gold Award for Junior Engravers and was commended in the Junior Smallworkers section for excellence in technical and craft skills as well as artistry and design merit. But her greatest accolade was gaining the Podolsky Award for a young designer showing outstanding potential in Silversmithing, Jewellery and the allied crafts.

Theresa Nguyen collected two Silver Awards for excellence in the Junior Smallworkers and Silversmiths sections along with a commendation.

Katy Felton continues to prove her skill in silversmithing by picking up the Senior Silver Award and Emily Richard received a commendation in the Technological Innovation Award for 3D work.

Congratulations to you all and keep up the good work!
