The annual Domino Design award proved to be a great success again this year with the winning pieces being exhibited at the NEC Spring Fair in February at a champagne presentation event.

The competition is run as a module of the HND Jewellery and Silversmithing course, which gives students the opportunity to be creative and innovate whilst working to a commercially structured brief.

Liz Evans was this year’s winner with a striking piece influenced by contemporary sculpture, Natasha Bagnall was a close second, with Alice Higgins and Claire Haines both being awarded third place. All winners receive a cash prize and have the opportunity of work experience with Domino.

Domino is a part of Weston Beamor Jewellery Services Limited, a family business, which recently celebrated 60 years of casting for the Jewellery trade. The chance to work for such an established and prestigious company with a reputation that spreads far and wide is a unique opportunity for the students and one they thoroughly enjoy.

‘As an annual award I am delighted by the consistently high level of the final pieces but also by the students grasp of the whole design process’ Patrick Fuller (CEO of Weston Beamor)
