St Paul's Church
10-Oct-2008
Known as the ‘Jewellers Church’, St Pauls has a prominent setting at the edge of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham’s only remaining Georgian square.
Since 2007 the church has been the venue for the School of Jewellery’s annual Prizegiving ceremony.
Prizegiving enables student achievement over the year to be recognised and rewarded. The event is organised by the British Jewellers Association who coordinate presentation of industry-sponsored prizes for all aspects of the Schools subjects. Traditionally the event has been held at the School with prizes being presented by the Lord Mayor. It is hoped that use of the church will establish a ‘new tradition’.
The church was built in 1779, though the bell tower as seen today was added in 1823. A full ‘peal’ of 10 bells was installed in 2005 and may be heard on Sunday and Thursday evenings. Find out more about the church on www.saintpaulbrum.org
