Brilliantly Birmingham - International Contemporary Jewellery Festival is entering into its ninth year. Since 1999, it has grown from an informal group of local designer jewellery exhibitors who gathered together to market themselves under a single brand to an international contemporary jewellery festival attracting designer makers from across the globe.

ACJ Origin Jewellery Award

Whilst exhibiting at Origin for the first time, Amy Duggan won the Origin Jewellery Award for creativity, innovation and standard of work which was presented by the Association for Contemporary Jewellery. She won £200 and a year’s membership to ACJ.

Origin: The London Craft Fair

Recent graduates and current staff members exhibit their new collections this week at Origin: The London Craft Fair held at Somerset House. The exhibition takes place over two weeks and this year our exhibitors include lecturer Jo Pond, graduates Amy Duggen, Jiyeon Hyun, Betty Pepper, and our artists in residence Yoko Izawa, Kathryn Partington and Esther Lord.

Graduate collaboration leads to innovative new collection from CW Sellors

The School of Jewellery have been actively involved with Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) for several years. These collaborative projects create a triangle of knowledge between a university, a manufacturing company and a graduate and are an exciting and successful way of sharing knowledge and benefits for all parties.

A busy year for Nan Nan

Since graduating from the School’s BA course in 2007 with First Class Honours, Nan Nan Liu has enjoyed many successes!
She progressed to the Bishopsland Educational Trust’s workshop in South
Oxfordshire for an intensive 12 month programme and in September 2008
she commences the MA course at the Royal College of Art in London.

Theresa Nguyen

Theresa Nguyen graduated from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design in 2007, with a degree in Jewellery Design and Silversmithing. In 2008, she was awarded the Nadfas South Mercia Scholarship, to further her silversmithing training at the Bishopsland post graduate workshop. She currently works from a Birmingham based workshop in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter.
