British Art Medal Society Student Competition

The School of Jewellery had the pleasure of hosting the British Art Medal Society student competition during March 2008.
The Student Medal Project encourages and promotes the art of making medals throughout art colleges in the United Kingdom. Each year over one hundred student medals, from as many as fifteen art colleges, are submitted for prize judging and selection for exhibition.
Students from the National Diploma in Design Crafts took part in this completion creating their own Art Medals. 2nd year student Brenda Yates medal “Food for thought” Won The worshipful Company of founders Grand First prize which was presented for overall excellence in the medallic medium
The Royal Mint and the Worshipful Company of Founders are among the institutions that support the project, and the British Museum sometimes purchases particularly meritorious student medals.
