Introduction to the Course
This course specialises in the fascinating tradition of precious metals and gemstones, covering design through to production techniques and manufacture. Over a two year period students have the opportunity to attain a high level of practical skill.
Your Learning Experience
During your first year you’ll be introduced to basic hand and quantity production techniques, after which you’ll be able to manufacture pieces of jewellery and small objects made to your own design in silver and gold. These practical projects are supported by a programme of core studies covering drawing and design, the efficient use of materials and the making and maintenance of tools.
In year two you’re encouraged to develop and combine processes to create more complex pieces of work using advanced fine jewellery techniques whilst encouraging individuality in ideas and design.
