Head of School’s Welcome

Welcome to the School of Jewellery, which is positioned within the faculty of Birmingham Institute of Art and Design at Birmingham City University.

The School of Jewellery on Vittoria Street has been located in the heart of Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter since 1890. The exterior architecture of the building is an excellent example of traditional local vernacular, while the interior is a contemporary, purpose built environment filled with natural light from a glass roof and open atrium exhibition space.

Students can chose from a unique and enviable portfolio of courses that includes jewellery, silversmithing, horology and gemmology and will be exposed to the full range of traditional techniques and cutting edge technology. The school also benefits from the close proximity of the University’s Jewellery Industry Innovation Centre (JIIC) which offers expertise in industry related techniques such as; CAD/CAM, rapid prototyping and laser technology.

Staff at the school are experts in their field and support award winning students through their chosen course and into professional life. If you would like to see what the School of Jewellery has to offer, you are most welcome to come along to one of our open days.
